MATIFF
Luchino Visconti Award
Every year the Matiff – Matera international film festival pays homage to the careers of Italian and international artists, intellectuals and filmmakers with the Luchino Visconti Award.
The prestigious award is named in memory of one of the greatest masters of Italian cinema, who in 1959 made a long trip to Basilicata between the lands of the province of Matera, Pisticci and Tricarico in search of ideas for his masterpiece “Rocco and his Brothers” where the great Alain Delon made his debut Furthermore.
The Luchino Visconti Prize is an exclusive and precious art object: a gold cuckoo, from inside which you can hear a whistle that belongs to the history of Matera, with abundant, complex friezes, rich in details, created by master craftsmen-artists of the city.
