MATIFF
Rocco Scotellaro Award
Every year, the Matiff – Matera International Film Festival honors the careers of Italian and international artists and filmmakers with the Rocco Scotellaro Award. This prestigious award is named in memory of one of the greatest writers of the twentieth century. A writer (Tricarico 1923 – Portici 1953) of humble origins, a socialist, poet, and intellectual, and mayor of Tricarico from 1946 to 1950, Scotellaro left his mark on the culture and history of the twentieth century. His human and artistic experience, unfortunately brief, continues to inspire interest for the content and values he expressed, well beyond modernity. In previous editions, the Scotellaro Award has gone to:
Giancarlo De Cataldo (2023)
